KING PINE RACE TEAM
For Ages U8–U14
King Pine’s weekend training program is for skiers who are dedicated to improving their alpine skiing and racing skills.
U8 (6-7 year-olds)
Our Pre-racing program introduces our youngest athletes to the fundamentals needed for ski racing and being part of a race community. The focus on this age group is to expose them to all elements and terrain on the mountain.
The goals of the U8 program is to prepare athletes for future race programs while ensuring that they have fun, develop friendships and develop a lifelong passion for skiing. There is a minimum level of mountain competency that is expected to join the program. Athletes must be able to put on and take off their own equipment, ride chairlifts and be able to safely be able to navigate intermediate (blue square) trails.
U10 (8-9 year-olds)
Our U10 program is designed to help young skiers build strong skills, confidence, and a love for the sport in a fun and supportive environment. Athletes will work with an experienced coach to develop solid fundamentals, improve their technique, and become more comfortable skiing a variety of terrain.
Each session focuses on skill progression through guided free skiing, drills and introduces ski racing through age-appropriate courses. Skiers will learn balance, edging, turning, and speed control while also being introduced to racing concepts. The program emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and mountain safety. Our goal is to create a positive experience where young athletes can grow their abilities, challenge themselves, and enjoy time on the mountain with friends. The U10 program will also begin to attend races hosted both at King Pine and other mountains.
This age group will require a USSA and NHARA membership to attend races. All racers in U10 must have a hard eared FIS supported helmet.
U12 (10-11 year-olds)
The U12 program is designed for athletes who are ready to further develop their alpine skiing and racing skills in a structured and supportive environment. Skiers will work with an experienced coach to refine technique, improve consistency, and build confidence across a variety of terrain and conditions.
Training focuses on advanced fundamentals including carving, edge control, balance, and speed management. Athletes will spend time training in gates, with an emphasis on slalom and giant slalom courses. Sessions also include drills that promote agility, coordination, and tactical awareness on the racecourse. The program encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth while helping athletes build a strong technical foundation for future competitive skiing. Our goal is to challenge skiers while maintaining a positive, fun environment that fosters a lifelong love of the sport.
This age group will require a USSA and NHARA membership to attend races. All racers in U12 must have a hard eared FIS supported helmet and pairs of GS and SL skis.
U14 (12-13 year-olds)
